The problem we kept seeing
Small businesses run on a register. A notebook by the till, a spreadsheet on a laptop, a stack of receipts in a drawer. It works — until a second person needs to write in it, or the book is at the shop while you are at home, or a customer insists they already paid.
Plenty of apps set out to fix that. What we watched happen next is why MoneyBook exists. An app arrives, it is free, people move years of their business into it — and then one morning adding a single entry costs money. Their own records, sitting behind a payment screen.
You can read what that feels like in the reviews of apps it has happened to. People do not write “too expensive”. They write that they trusted something and it changed the deal once they could not easily leave.
What we decided
So we wrote the promise into our Terms of Service, in section 4, where it is part of the agreement rather than a line in an advertisement: recording and reading your own entries is free, and stays free. Not free for a year. Not free until we find investors.
We may charge one day for things beyond keeping your own book — bigger teams, deeper tooling. Those would be genuine additions, priced openly. What will not happen is your existing books becoming a locked screen.
How we build it
- Offline is the default, not a feature. The app assumes there is no signal and is pleasantly surprised when there is.
- Your data is yours. We do not sell it. Export to PDF or Excel whenever you like, and take it elsewhere if you want to.
- Permissions are real. Access rules run on our servers, so they hold even against a modified app.
- Your language, properly. 33 of them, and the right-to-left ones are laid out correctly rather than mirrored.
Who we are
MoneyBook is built by FEXO FZC LLC, a software company in the United Arab Emirates. We build the whole thing ourselves — the apps, the servers and the support inbox.
That inbox is help@moneybook.ae, and a person reads it. If MoneyBook is missing something your business needs, tell us. A lot of what is in it arrived exactly that way.
